Keeping your kids safe while still allowing them to have fun can sometimes be a tricky thing. Being safe doesn’t mean taking away all the fun.
Kids have enjoyed trick or treating on Halloween night for decades. As times change we must be more careful in ensuring that our kids are protected. The most important thing is to make sure kids are properly chaperoned. Even in large groups adults should be present to ensure the children’s safety. Children should never be allowed to go out alone.
Wearing light colored clothes and carrying a flashlight is also helpful to ensure that children can be seen after dark. Try to avoid costumes that are made of dark colors or use glow sticks or something similar to ensure they can be easily seen.
Never allow your children to eat candy they have gotten until you have checked it yourself. Never allow them to eat anything that is not received unopened in the original wrapper. If your child does receive items that are not in the original wrapper or has been opened throw it away immediately.
Following these simple safety tips can help keep your children safe while still allowing them to enjoy themselves and have a safe and happy Halloween.
